Le Mans - the current MotoGP championship leader Jorge Lorenzo proved his skill on the track wet race after winning the Le Mans circuit a rain-soaked weekend.
Whereas before, Lorenzo claimed to have time to hate the race in rainy conditions early in his career first. 2010 world champion this even took a special train on the track that had been soaked karting to hone his ability to race on a wet track.
"I never really hated race in wet conditions. I am very afraid of the rain when I was younger because there are 90 percent chance I'll crash, "Lorenzo said as quoted by Crash, Thursday (24/05/2012).
"But after five or six years I said 'Ok, I have to improve my race on the track wet'. Then I went to the karting circuit with a mini bike, soaking the track and keep practicing until accustomed to wet conditions, "said Lorenzo.
The result was sweet fruit. Having always fail to look good on a wet circuit since its debut in the 125cc class in 2002 ago, Lorenzo finally managed to get his first podium at the Circuit Indianapolis in 2008 and then to finish in third position.
"Yeah, right. I was faster. More consistent. Can minimize the risk. Now after years of practice, but skill is not lost and I was quite competitive in the wet circuit, "I'm Lorenzo.
The victory at Le Mans circuit this weekend Lorenzo was not the first win on the track wet. Lorenzo had previously won at the Jerez circuit is too wet earlier in 2011.
However, his victory at the French MotoGP is the first for him in wet track conditions. Moreover, his victory was achieved with a 10 second advantage of Valentino Rossi in second.
"Being eight points ahead of Stoner is a good thing, because in this kind of competition you can be 25-26 points behind after an accident," said Lorenzo.
